PortCV Legal

Privacy Policy

This policy explains how PortCV handles account information, resumes, portfolios, AI requests, payments, messages, and audience analytics.

Effective and last updated: August 12, 2026

1. Overview

PortCV provides resume and portfolio creation, publishing, hosting, analytics, contact tools, AI assistance, subscriptions, and paid PDF downloads. By using PortCV, you acknowledge the practices described here and in our Terms of Service.

2. Information we collect

  • Account data: name, email, profile image, country, job category, authentication provider, account identifiers, and login/session records.
  • User content: resume data, imported documents, portfolio HTML/CSS/JavaScript, images, templates, sections, SEO settings, and publishing choices.
  • AI data: prompts, selected content, generated responses, token usage, and technical request metadata.
  • Payment data: plan, order, subscription, payer and transaction identifiers, status, amount, currency, refunds, and webhook records. PayPal handles payment credentials such as full card numbers; PortCV does not store them.
  • Messages: contact-form submissions, portfolio inbox messages, and Talent Advocate conversations.
  • Usage and device data: IP address, timestamps, requested pages, referrer, browser, platform, language, device type, session activity, and error diagnostics.
  • Portfolio audience data: a random visitor ID, IP, visit count, viewed URL, voluntarily submitted contact details, and approximate location derived from IP or browser permission.

3. How we use information

We use information to authenticate accounts; provide and secure the service; save, render and publish content; process payments; enforce plan limits; prevent fraud and abuse; deliver messages; measure performance; troubleshoot errors; comply with legal obligations; and communicate service or billing information.

Where applicable, processing is based on performance of our contract with you, our legitimate interests in operating and protecting PortCV, consent where requested, and compliance with legal obligations.

4. AI features

When you request an AI feature, the prompt and content needed to complete it are sent to our configured AI provider. Do not submit secrets, payment credentials, health records, or information you are not authorized to process.

AI output can be inaccurate. Review generated content before relying on it. Community approval uses AI to replace private candidate content with fictional reusable examples and rejects approval if protected structure or privacy checks fail.

5. Published and community content

A published portfolio, linked resume, public SEO metadata, and approved community templates can be accessed by others and may be indexed by search engines when indexing is enabled.

Submitting content for review does not publish the original private content directly. If approved, personal content is replaced with fictional examples. An approved privacy-safe community item may remain available without personal attribution after account deletion because other users may rely on it.

6. Portfolio analytics and cookies

PortCV uses essential cookies or similar local identifiers for authentication, security, visitor recognition, checkout continuity, preferences, and audience measurement. Portfolio owners receive analytics according to their plan. Free accounts may be told activity exists while exact analytics remain hidden.

Approximate location is normally derived from IP. Precise browser geolocation is used only after browser permission. Visitors can block cookies or location permission, although some functionality may be reduced.

7. Service providers and disclosure

We disclose only information reasonably needed by providers supporting hosting, authentication, AI processing, email, monitoring, analytics, rendering, and payments. PayPal processes checkout under its own privacy terms.

We may disclose information when legally required, to protect users or PortCV, investigate fraud or security incidents, or during a business transfer subject to appropriate safeguards. PortCV does not sell personal information for money.

8. Retention and account deletion

We retain information while an account is active and as needed to operate PortCV, resolve disputes, protect the service, and meet legal, tax, accounting, and payment obligations. Operational logs, analytics, and backups are retained for periods appropriate to their purpose.

Account deletion removes active sessions and private content, revokes available download entitlements, cancels active subscriptions, and anonymizes the account. Minimum payment, order, refund, subscription, and webhook records remain under a pseudonymous internal identifier for disputes, chargebacks, audits, and legal obligations.

9. Security

We use access controls, validation, rate limits, encryption in transit, published-content isolation, payment verification, and monitoring intended to protect information. No online service can guarantee absolute security.

10. Your choices and rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, export, restrict, object to, or delete personal information, and withdraw consent where relevant. You can edit most data in PortCV and request account deletion from settings.

To make a request, email us from the address associated with your account. We may verify your identity and retain information where legal, payment, or security obligations require it.

11. International processing

PortCV and its providers may process information outside your country. Where required, we use contractual or other lawful safeguards for international transfers.

12. Children

PortCV is not directed to children who cannot legally consent to online data processing in their jurisdiction. Contact us if you believe a child provided data without required authorization.

13. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as PortCV, providers, or legal requirements change. We will publish the updated date and give additional notice where required.
